In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. National Police Week pays special recognition to law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. This year, the names of 307 officers will be added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC, including seven from Georgia who lost their lives in 2019.

Thank you to the men and women of law enforcement for your service and sacrifice.
