With Georgia’s judicial emergency extended to June 12th, the Towaliga Judicial Circuit continues to suspend all jury trials and grand juries. The circuit developed a plan to continue moving cases through the system, and will utilize video conferencing to conduct non-jury court days. This week, Lamar County Superior Court handled approximately 65 defendants in various stages of court proceedings, ranging from arraignments to pleas. In accordance with current public health guidelines, courtrooms will be limited to 10 people at a time, and all present in the courthouse must wear a mask.
